		<description>First, I wholeheartedly agree with Laura Granka that effective searching is an acquired skill. Information Studies programs actually teach techniques for building effective search queries (or UT&#039;s School of Information does, anyways). Ask any librarian if all searches are created equal!

Second, I always enjoy reading Gord Hotchkiss&#039;s thoughts in his columns; he always has really interesting ideas that blend search with cognitive science, psychology, and usability. His two part post on Search Insider about &quot;&lt;a href=&quot;http://blogs.mediapost.com/search_insider/?p=712&quot;&gt;Search, Transactive Memory, and the Plastic Mind&lt;/a&gt;&quot; talks about some of the same issues presented here (be sure to check out &lt;a href=&quot;http://blogs.mediapost.com/search_insider/?p=707&quot;&gt;Part 1&lt;/a&gt; of the series too).
