AdWords Placement Report
The effectiveness of Google’s content network may have been discussed in less than satisfactory terms on some blogs, namely this one, but you have to hand it to Google, they are making an effort to bring in better results from paid search on the content network, and by better results I mean more money into Google’s pocket. That being said, Google is definitely making some positive moves concerning its content network with regards to paid search advertisers.
Google, as we have already mentioned here before, has recently been reported to have sent out cut off notices to AdSense advertisers whose sites exist solely as internet billboards, providing no relevant information. While this is a great move, it still leaves quite a few websites in the content network that could only be described as, well… One man’s garbage is another man’s treasure, but one man’s treasure doesn’t always equate to effective advertising spend.
What’s even better for advertisers than the cut off notices is the relatively new placement report that can be found in Google AdWords. Rather than blind optimism that the content network is showing ads on relevant sites, a placement report can now be run and the proof of quality or lack thereof can be seen in a quick report which lists the specific sites on which the ads have been shown. The best reason for this report, of course, is that any of the sites reported that are not campaign relevant can easily be blocked from showing your ads.
You may not find this all that exciting, but believe me it’s nice knowing that advertising spend is not being wasted on a pre-teen Harry Potter fan site when the product is a five-thousand dollar car audio system called the Wizard.

[...] I know it may seem strange to find an SEO Company here on Six Neat Things, but bear with me a minute. As you know, I love to learn new things, and Apogee Search deserves a mention on this blog because their website is a treasure trove of information. They have a glossary that explains all the SEO terms, as well as a blog discussing current SEO information in words even I understand. Be sure and check out their recent post on the AdWords Placement Report. [...]
